Area of Application

Hexagonal netting 80/100/2.7 is a double twisted mesh product used for standard strength applications in slope stabilization solutions. The mesh can be used for both stabilizing slopes as a pinned mesh system, as well as installed to control erosion as a drape system.

Double Twisted

The terminology “double twisted” or “double twist” refers to how the wire is woven together. The term “triple twist” was also used to denote the same structure with some older specifications. The mesh is constructed from strands of wire twisted with three half revolutions (i.e 1.5 turns) and result in a non-raveling mesh that has a hexagonal opening.

Drape Mesh System

Drape mesh systems allow material behind the mesh to move down slope in a controlled manner. These systems are normally secured along the top of the system with a suspension cable, with few or no anchors below.

Anchored Mesh System

To prevent the movement of small material down a slope, the mesh can be pinned using a matrix of soil or rock anchors. In some cases steel ropes connected to anchor plates are used to further reinforce the system. Anchor spacing, depth and type must be designed by a geotechnical engineer to properly accommodate the expected forces and to reduce maintenance.
