Area of Application

The TSV-1000-oA is a medium energy rockfall catchment fence that utilizes a fixed-post and thus requires no upslope retaining ropes. It has been tested according to the ETAG 27 guidelines and carries a CE marking. It fully meets the requirements for Consequence Class 3 of Appendix E of the ONR 24810 “Technical protection against rockfall – Terms and definitions, actions, design and construction, and monitoring and maintenance” and carries the highest performance rating available according to the Austrian Department of Avalanche and Torrent Control’s rockfall catchment fence type list. As such, it may be used on projects with all levels of risk.

Rope Guidances

The upper and lower bearing ropes are led through a rope guidance that is integrated on each post head and base plate. A similar guidance is used for the middle ropes. Each guidance provides large curved surfaces to help protect the ropes and allow unobstructed movement. The guidance is designed to be robust and with no movable parts in order to ensure longevity and zero maintenance.

Integrated Ladder

Each post has an integrated ladder composed of rungs spaced at 50 cm intervals in the webbing of the I-beam. The ladder assists in the installation of the fence as well as routine inspection and maintenance.

Base Plate

As with all fixed-rotation systems, the base plate is integrated into the post. The lower bearing rope is led through a guidance attached to the base plate having a curved surface both horizontally and vertically to assist deflection of the rope. The base of the post is secured to the foundation/subsurface through three bolts or rock anchors.

Lateral Anchorage

Lateral anchoring or internal anchoring of long sections of fences are achieved normally with two anchors having the main bearing ropes and the middle ropes attached with brakes, thimbles and shackles. Brake elements on the middle ropes allow for more elongation than the upper and lower brakes to maximize energy absorption while maintaining a large residual height.

GDV Brake Element

The GDV series of brake elements are steel profiles with a roller which is pulled along its length when a force is applied, causing deformation. The gauge and length of the steel strip can be altered to control the amount of energy absorbed and the total displacement. These brakes are highly efficient and require minimal off-set from the posts.

Omega-Net

The primary net material used in Trumer systems is called the Omega-Net. It is a steel cable net made from spiral rope that has thick individual wires to resist abrasion. The strands of rope are pre-bent into arcs resembling an omega shape and then woven together to make the net. This process yields an extremely strong net with high flexibility and energy absorption characteristics.
