Mining
Mining operations affect ground stability and surrounding terrain. Excavation, blasting, groundwater shifts, and geomechanical processes can trigger rockfall, landslides, subsidence or sudden collapse in tunnels and open pits.
To counter these risks, TRUMER offers high-performance protection systems tailored for mining. Our solutions include energy-dissipating barriers, rockfall nets installed as a anchored mesh or as a draped system, and flexible shoring systems, specially tested to meet demanding international standards.
These systems stabilize rock faces, secure critical infrastructure, and reduce the risk of uncontrolled slope failure both in active and abandoned mining areas.
The result: safer, more stable and sustainable mining operations.
Reference projects
Limestone quarry, Switzerland
When converting a limestone quarry in Switzerland into a landfill site, protective measures were required as heavily weathered rock faces 30 m high posed a risk of rockfall. A Trumer rectangular mesh system 60/60/3.1 was installed with spike plates that effectively retain even small stones. With approximately 12,000 m2 installed, the efficiency, ease of installation, and safety of the system were proven.
Tunnel portal, Canada
While constructing an access tunnel at a mine in British Columbia, Canada, it was essential to establish robust safety measures to ensure the work could proceed. To achieve this, a 5-meter-high, 1000 kJ hinged- post system was installed before excavation began, providing protection during the portal’s construction and continuing to safeguard the site afterward.
Limestone quarry, Austria
During a construction the of a 50-meter-deep shaft at a Limestone quarry, a TS-100-MOBILE barrier system was installed to ensure a high level of safety from falling rocks. The barrier provided reliable protection throughout the entire construction phase. Thanks to its modular design, it could be installed quickly and offered flexibility on site. A key advantage of this system design was the elimination of ground anchors, enabling the ability to be relocated at anytime.
