Fixed post system, Canada
In response to a dangerous slope along a major oil pipeline in British Columbia, Canada, a 1000 kJ fixed-rotation rockfall catchment fence was required that would allow unimpeded access to the upslope side of the system. These fixed-post systems are well-suited for high-frequency sites where convenient entry for maintenance and cleaning is essential.
Multihazard barrier, Austria
The hydropower plant in Kühtai, Austria, one of Europe's most powerful pumped-storage plants, required relia-ble protection during the construction. To ensure site safety, over 4,100 m of TRUMER rockfall protection barriers were installed. In total, 71 barriers were in-stalled to safeguard the construction primarily against rockfall. During winter, the barriers also withstand impacts from artifi cially triggered avalanches, demon- strating their effectiveness as a multi-hazard protection system.
Rockfall barrier, Georgia
In 2019, a rock-ice avalanche destroyed a hydropower intake near Mestia. The resulting debris flow caused major downstream damage. A detailed hazard assessment led to a new intake location. Due to rockfall risk at the new site, a flexible rockfall barrier was installed to ensure long-term protection.
